Salmon Fishing in Campbell River

Salmon fishing is what we love best! Chinook or Spring salmon (also called King salmon) in the 10 - 40 lb range populate Campbell River waters from June through late September. These are both resident and migratory salmon, as are the Coho (Silvers) that average 3 - 14 lbs throughout the summer season.
In the Fall, (September through October) Chum salmon appear - strapping fighters that tip the scales from 12 - 20 lbs. Tyee salmon - Chinooks of 30 lbs and over - are special catches, shining silver to almost blue-black, deep in the girth and powerful fighters.
Your guided fishing charter will take place in the protected waters of Discovery Passage between Vancouver Island and mainland BC. We usually cruise along the shoreline where our fishing guides work the back-eddies, trolling the undersea shelves and current, fishing deep for salmon feeding there.
Catch and release is popular! "Fight your salmon and let it live to fight another day", is the motto of many fishermen these days. As long as your salmon is of legal “keeping” size, is in season and you are within your limit you can keep it.
As part of our salmon conservation efforts we always inform our anglers that they have the option of releasing their fish. It’s your fishing vacation and the choice is all yours!
Half day or full day? We can go out on a 5 hour (minimum) salmon fishing charter or take a box lunch and stay out on the water all day. While we’re saltwater fishing we’ll check out local sights like the Cape Mudge lighthouse on the south end of Quadra Island (just across from Campbell River) and local flora and fauna including sea lions, bald eagles, sea birds and, if we’re lucky, Orcas (Killer Whales).
See the amazing tidal action of Seymour Narrows and visit Mitlenatch Island, a virtual desert island complete with cactus, a unique bird sanctuary and its own unique ecosystem located just 5 miles of the southern tip of Quadra Island.

The marine life viewing is amazing here!
On any given day on the waters you'll spot seabirds of all descriptions, bald eagles, likely seals, dolphins or porpoises and, depending upon the time of year, you may see sea lions, black bears, grizzly bears and Orcas (killer whales)!
